TRAVELING ON WATER

Once you arrive at Taketomi Island Ferry Port, after a 10 minute ferry ride from Ishigaki Ferry Terminal,  a friendly HOSHINOYA staff welcomes you by the water, soon to escort you into one of their HOSHINOYA cars. You arrive at HOSHINOYA Taketomi Island after about a 5 minute semi bumpy ride through the lush green field.

石垣港フェリーターミナルを出発し、約10分後、竹冨島に到着。竹富島に着くと、星のやのスタッフが専用の車でお出迎えをしてくれる。その後、緑の中を5分ほど走ると「星のや竹富島」が姿を表す。

YUNTAKU LOUNGE

Where artistry meets history, the Yuntaku Lounge is a calm haven that welcomes you into an otherworldly experience. The quiet library corner and refreshing drinks that surround, present every guest with a magical paradise of peace and comfort.

「星のや竹富島」の中心に静かにたたずむ「ゆんたくラウンジ」。
無料の飲み物や小菓子、小さな図書館に囲まれ、時間を忘れ、ゆったりとした気分で過ごすことができるスペース。

This is Jimami-Peanuts-Tofu with ice cream, one of my favorite refreshments for a relaxing afternoon at the Yuntaku Lounge.

ラウンジでいただくことができる「ジーマミー豆腐」。地豆（落花生）の豆腐にアイス、キャラメルソースと黒糖ピーナッツを添えた午後の癒しのデザート。

ROOMS - LIVING AS AN ISLANDER

HOSHINOYA Taketomi Island pavilions feature red-tiled roofs with shisa lion figurines, and the walls which surrounds it are built with stones of fossilized coral to protect from strong winds.

竹富島にある実際の集落と同じような住み心地を味わえる「星のや竹富島」は、珊瑚砂の白い道と琉球赤瓦の家並みが広がる、島のもう一つの集落。


Hinpun - a stone wall which is believed to ward off evil is built inside the entryway of each pavilion. It has been told that people pass the hinpun from the left, as the right is the path for the god.

家の正面にある石積みの壁「ヒンプン」は、魔除けの意味が込められている。家に入る際はヒンプンの左側を通るのが、島のしきたりであることから、星のや竹富島でも客室の入り口は左側にある。

South-facing floor-to-ceiling windows in each pavilion let in the southern winds, which is considered lucky amongst the islanders. Even the interior design choices allow the guest to feel like an islander.

家屋は、いわば風の家。
南風は幸運をもたらすと言われている竹富島。
これを受け、星のや竹富島ではどの客室も、大きく開け放てる窓が南側に設置されている。

Bathing in the tub while feeling the breeze flowing from the Southern window, out the Northern window beside the bathtub and listening to the singing of tropical birds is the perfect way to spend your room-time.

窓を開け放ち、心地よいそよ風を感じながらのバスタイム。南の島の鳥たちの声を聴きながら、開放的な時を過ごせる場所。

JAPANESE BREAKFAST

In the morning, guests have two breakfast options: Usanmi, a traditional Okinawan multilayered bento box meal or a light casserole prepared with Okinawan tofu.

和朝食は、伝統的な重箱料理（ウサンミ）が彩る「島の九品（クヌシナ）朝食」と、島豆腐を使った「ゆし豆腐粥朝食」の２種類。

‘BLESSING OF THE SEA’ BREAKFAST

Delightful and colorful breakfast featuring noodles made of asa and mozuku seaweed, with sea grapes and shrimp. This summer perfect breakfast reminds you of Okinawa’s beautiful ocean. (‘Blessing of the Sea’  Breakfast was available from June 1st through to August 31st 2021)

鮮やかな色合いで海を感じさせる「 海の恵み朝食 」は、もずくとアーサーを練り込んだ麺を、海ぶどうや海老と共に味わう、夏の朝にぴったりの朝食。（「海の恵み朝食」は、2021年6月1日～8月31日まで実施した「海空いやし滞在」の滞在プログラムに含まれる朝食）

NOUVELLE RYUKYU

‘Nouvelle Ryukyu’ is a fusion cuisine of French and Okinawan dinner course available at HOSHINOYA Taketomi Island that use a variety of local herbs, grown on the premises along with spices that are suited to the island's climate. It incorporates French culinary technique that is combined with foods that would strengthen their flavors.

琉球ヌーヴェル 

沖縄の食材と“新しいもの”を意味する言葉を合わせた「琉球ヌーヴェル」というコンセプトの、ディナーコース。フレンチの技法で食材の魅力を引き立て、沖縄の太陽を浴びて育った長命草や、フーチバ、ニガナといった地元由来の野草から、ローズマリーなどのハーブを使した星のや竹富島特有の五感で楽しめるディッシュ。

A POOL THAT REFLECTS THE SKIES ABOVE


A pool that reflects Taketomi’s deep blue sky stretches in the center of the resort village. It is a place where one could free the mind and relax, swim, sunbathe, or watch the millions of stars that fill the sky at night.

広い空の真下、開放感あふれるプール。集落の中心に広がる解放感溢れるプールは好きな時に自由に入ることができる。青い空と満天の星空を望んだり、竹富島の空に包まれた気分を体験できる場所がここに。

A MORNING WALK TO THE BEACH

Blue waters and pristine white ‘Aiyaruhama’ beach lie only steps away from the resort village. Whether walking along a deserted beach first thing in the morning, or watching a romantic sunrise, one can revel in the healing and nurturing powers of this gentle island.

LANDSCAPE DESIGN OF HOSHINOYA TAKETOMI ISLAND  

Landscape Architect of HOSHINOYA Taketomi Island, Hasegawa’s (On-site Landscape Design Studio) biggest challenge was, “how to introduce a resort that offers something new, without disrupting its natural continuity.” Taketomi Island, where life is still centered around traditional villages, cultures, and arts, and homes were once built behind concentric walls around a castle-like structure. On the other hand, modern homes are surrounded by stone walls and situated parallel or perpendicular to each other. The Landscape Architect has incorporated both these elements into the design. As a result, HOSHINOYA Taketomi Island is a fifteen-acre village where every guest house has their own private garden. Every part of the villa is a natural extension of the island, where guests can relax, as life moves at a calm pace.

ランドスケープ デザイン（景観設計） 

オンサイト計画設計事務所により設計された星のや竹富島の環境・景観は「島という小宇宙の中にどのように新しい宿泊施設を埋めこむのか、どうしたら島の風景に溶けこみつつも新しい体験を提供できるか」といった考えを元にデザインされている。
台風への備えとプライバシーに合わせてデザインされた、グックに囲まれた庭や住戸など、伝統を活かし、島全体が持続的に魅力を増していけるようにと設計された星のや竹富島の広さは6ヘクタールを超えるほど。プライベートな庭から細い路地、小さな畑や広々としたプール、森の小道や見晴台…　ゆったりとしたランドスケープを兼ね備えた新しい集落は、ここ竹富島の魅力を存分に味わえる起点でもある。
