The modern and luxurious ‘Spa Tokione’ is housed beneath the iconic and historic Tokyo Station which has been around for over a decade, and within the Tokyo Station Hotel.

The graceful spa name ‘Tokione’ derives from ‘TOKIO’ meaning ‘Tokyo’ in French and ‘NE’ representing ‘root’, ‘sound’ and ‘sleep’, which all have the same ‘ne’ sound when written in Chinese characters.

東京ステーションホテルのエントランスからロビーを横切り、廊下沿いにあるエレベーターで地下1階へ降りると、フィットネス＆スパの入口が姿を現す。レセプションの中に進むと、クリームホワイトの温かみあるインテリアと自然を思わせるエレメントに囲まれた癒しの空間がウェルカムしてくれる。

Freestyle Deep Tissue Treatment


 
One of the spa’s most popular treatment is the ‘Freestyle Deep Tissue Treatment’. Relaxing fragrant oils from ELEMIS (a luxurious spa brand borne in 1989 in England) is used on the body, mainly focusing on the back area.

 Pre-treatment, I was gratefully explained how well the ELEMIS products will work and how my skin will respond. I was presented with 4 types of fragrant oils to choose from – I chose the sweet-scented Frangipani oil which is said to treat dry skin. As the treatment began, cooling gel was used around the neck and shoulder area. Complete with fully heated bed and the peaceful music, my thoughts quickly drifted into an enriching embrace..

フリースタイル ディープティッシュー　トリートメント 

今回フィーチャーさせていただくのは、1989年に英国で誕生したラグジュアリー・スパ・スキンケアブランド「エレミス」の心地よい香りのオイルを贅沢に使用した、背面中心の「フリースタイル ディープティッシュー トリートメント」です。トリートメント前には、体調やコンディションについてのコンサルテーションが行われ、4種のボディオイルから最適なものを選んでいただくか、お気に入りの香りを選ぶことができます。今回私がチョイスしたオイルは、乾燥がきになる方にはオススメの甘い香りが特徴のフランジパニ（プルメリア）オイルでした。始めに腰や肩、首周りにはスーッと香るジェルを重ね、ていねいに凝りをほぐしてくれます。

Spa Tokione’s original skin care brand ‘euga’ contains a rare freshwater species called Euglena glacilis that has been around for 500 million years, which provides an excellent energy boost for the skin.
Body cream and Oil booster (image above) is said to activate the skin’s metabolism, firms the skin and improves elasticity. Aside from treatment rooms, Spa Tokione has a sauna, steam room, and several hydrotherapy pools, including a carbonated hot spring pool, and a cold bath.
