Very first Actus store opened its door in 1969 on Aoyama-dori in Tokyo with a then concept of "enriching the lifestyle of Japan through quality furniture”.

”True abundance is when we cherish quality goods for a lifetime, instead of repeated consumption.”

Actus continues to grow with this underlying philosophy, and never cease to create furnitures of high quality and timeless design, which people could use for as long as possible.

ブランドモットーに共鳴し、さらには魅力的且つサステナブルな一生モノを生み出している『ACTUS (アクタス）』に私が心惹かれる理由（わけ）がここにある…

日本にまだ「インテリア」という言葉が浸透する前の1969年、東京の青山通りに、アクタスの第一号店はオープンした。当時の「美しい生活道具や上質な家具によって、この国のライフスタイルをもっと豊かにしたい」という思いがあったからこそ、現在のヨーロッパ家具の輸入事業がある。「人とモノとの理想的な関係は、単に消費を繰り返すのではなく、本当にいい家具とできる限り長い時間を一緒に過ごしていくことであり、多くのモノを所有することと豊かなくらしとは別のものである。」これは、 “豊かなくらしとは消費を繰り返すことではなく、作り手の顔が見える製品と、愛着を持って暮らすこと” ではないかと考えていた創業メンバーからの、世の中に向けた最初のメッセージ。

大量に作るのではなく、大切に作る。

愛情を持って作られた家具は、永くずっと使い続ける。使い続けることで、廃棄やリサイクルにかかる余計なエネルギーを使わない。これこそが、アクタスの誇る環境への負荷を抑制する、最もサスティナブルな考えなのです。そのため、手放さずに使い続けたいと思える「上質でタイムレスなデザイン」をアクタスは尊重している。

Difference between a forest and a woodland

Forest is a dense area of trees which grows naturally, while a woodland is an area of trees that is systematically grown by humans. Actus never use trees taken from “forests” as materials for its furniture but only uses woods harvested from woodlands.

森は自然発生的にできた樹木の密集地。林は人が計画的に管理している樹木の生育地。アクタスでは、人の手によって植樹され、人工的に育てられた「林」から伐採された木々を材料にした家具だけを販売し、「森」から採取した木を使うことがないのです。

Actus' "SOUP" table is a series that offers a choice of size, leg design, material, coating style, and top edge design, just like a soup.. choosing your favourite ingredients and seasonings to enjoy them in your own combination.

アクタスの「SOUP（スープ）」テーブルはサイズ、レッグのデザイン、素材、塗装、天板のエッジのデザインをチョイスできるシリーズ。名前の由来は、好きな具材や味付けを選んで煮込むスープのように、自分好みの組み合わせで楽しむことができるから。

SOUPテーブルのレッグは3種類。中でも側面から見た時に床面に向かって広がるAラインのレッグは最も華奢で繊細な印象。

No exploitation of nature

The raw materials for the furniture ~ wood, leather, cotton, wool, and other materials handled by Actus are never taken away from nature. Wood is taken from woodlands that have been planted by human hands, leather a left over from meat processing, and cotton and wool are sourced from farms that have been artificially cultivated and bred.

自然から搾取しない

アクタスで扱っている、木材や革、綿やウールなどを使った家具や雑貨、布製品などの原材料には「自然が自ら作ったもの」は利用されていなのです。木材ならば計画植林された林から採れたもの、革なら食肉加工されて残ったもの、綿やウールなども人工的に栽培、飼育された農産地から仕入れたものを使用している。

Supply Chain Initiatives

Even within the supply chain that supplies Actus products, efforts are being made to reduce the burden on the environment and workers. In addition, efforts are constantly being made to reduce CO2 emissions, such as by using shipping services when transporting products overseas.

サプライチェーンのとりくみ

アクタスの製品を供給するサプライチェーン内でも、環境と働く人に負荷をかけない取り組みが行われている。また、海外製品の輸送時に船便を利用するなど、CO2削減に関する取り組みも常に行われている。

A Lifetime Support

Actus furniture are not made to be displayed and be admired, but to be a meaningful part of owner’s daily life and to be spent with everyday together. Actus has three systems in place to support the life of furniture: 1) repair and maintenance services ; 2) trade-in support when you have no choice but to let go of your furniture; and 3) 100% recycling of old or broken furniture. 家具の一生をサポート

アクタスの家具は飾って眺めるものではなく、日々を一緒に過ごすためのもの。アクタスでは、使われていくうちに傷みや汚れなど変化が表れてくる家具の一生をサポート、そして廃棄される家具をなくす3つの仕組みが整っている。それは、
1) 家具をずっと使い続けるための修理やメンテナンスサービス。
2) 転居や引越しなどでやむなく家具を手放される際に下取り、メンテナンスの後に次の使い手に販売する（トレードイン）によるサポート。
3)買い替え時に引き取った不要となった家具を含む、使用できなくなった家具を素材ごとに分別して100％リサイクル。
